School of Information Science & Technology ranked 1st
in Team Scores at the USTC Sports Meeting.
On Oct, 26 and 27, 2007, the
USTC sports meeting was held on the sports field of east campus. 230 athletes
from School of Information Science & Technology participated at this sports
meeting. The number of athletes from this school was the largest. Also, it is unprecedented
for this school that such a great number of athletes attended this sports
meeting.
During the sports meeting, the
athletes from School of Science and Technology shone and showed their high
proficiency in such sports as running, high jump, long jump and tabbing, with
the spirit of struggling for the first place. What’s more, they got the first
place in men’s javelin throw, men’s 800-meter running, women’s triple jump,
male postgraduates’ 100-meter running. As an old saying goes, the minutes of
performance on the stage needs a decade of practice off the stage. The
contestants of our school did hard training before this sports meeting, with an
attempt to achieve good results. For this purpose, they devoted their energy
and efforts to the training and thus abandoned the time for their rest and
entertainment. Several participants got injured in the training, but they did
not care about it. The only thing that they really care was to do their best
and win honor for their school.
As a matter of course, in this
event, some of them ran as fast as a speeding bullet, and others were as light
as air in long jump, tabbing and rope skipping. Their excellent performance
gave rise to a lot of applause.
On the spot, both participants and
audience were filled with passion. Wave after wave of applause and cheers spread
among the crowd, the cheering squad in particular. For example, some kept pace
with the athletes in the long running, and others prepared to catch the perfect
moment at any time by camera.
At 5 o’clock, on the afternoon of Oct 27, the closing ceremony began. The exciting moment coming, everyone hold one’s breath to listen to the result silently.
The annunciation of the results
caused a great sensation: The School of Information Science & Technology
won the first place in team scores. There was a stir of excitement, with a
smile on everyone’s face. How many efforts people have devoted to get the first
place! What’s more, the leaders of our school paid attention to a lot of
aspects, ranging from the affairs on the sports field, such as the basketball
match and the badminton match, to the honor guard, service, propagation
reports, organization of audience, communication, the participation of leaders
and the rope-skipping match. The Youth League, Student Union, Graduate Student
Council, the class cadres contributed more to this sports meeting, and their endeavor
pays off. At this moment, nothing but the pledge they made at the opening
ceremony can describe their own feelings: braving the wind and waves in full
sail for the glory of School of Information Science & Technology.
